Why does KityDisk ask for access to a drive?

Mac App Store apps may only read what you explicitly allow. When you scan a drive for the first time, KityDisk opens a dialog that already points to the drive – just click “Allow Access”. Your choice is remembered.

Some folders are reported as “could not be read”.

macOS protects some folders even further (e.g. Mail, Safari, Messages). Allow KityDisk under System Settings › Privacy & Security › Full Disk Access to include them. The notice in the app takes you there.

What does “Other (system, snapshots, unreadable)” mean?

It is space the drive reports as used but the scan cannot attribute to any file: system data, APFS snapshots (e.g. from Time Machine), purgeable space and folders without read access. KityDisk cannot delete this area.

Does KityDisk delete files permanently?

No. KityDisk only moves items to the Trash. You can put them back until you empty the Trash.

How do I reset saved folder access?

Choose KityDisk › “Reset Saved Folder Access”. KityDisk will ask again on the next scan.

How do I get a refund?

Apple handles Mac App Store purchases. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
